More than 80 new public comments sent to Cal Fire

More than 80 new public comments have been sent to Cal Fire opposing the 224-acre Silver Estates logging plan near Guerneville.

The comments were received between December 2, 2021, and January 3, 2022, when Cal Fire reopened the public comment period following significant changes to the timber harvest plan. They add to approximately 350 comments already submitted in 2020.

A decision on whether to allow the timberland owner, Redwood Empire, to log the hillsides around Neeley Hill and along the Russian River is expected within weeks, unless issues raised in the new comments cause a delay.

The GFC has submitted a number of letters including this summary of concerns.
