This means Redwoods and Douglas Firs can now be logged on Neeley Hill and along the Russian River, just outside Guerneville. It's not clear when logging will start but Cal Fire granted a waiver for winter operations.

The GFC is disappointed but not at all surprised by the decision. Cal Fire hardly ever denies even the most destructive logging plans. GFC spokesman, John Dunlap, said: “We’ll be reviewing the official response to more than 400 public comments and will then decide next steps. Stay tuned.”
